Description Xavier Hourcade 2012-09-09 13:55:08 UTC
Description of problem:

It's real hard, if not impossible, to read current setting for each category, in Anaconda's new main screen. Font and background colour are not distinct enough. Surely the fastest issue to fix :)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

as per F18 KDE Live alpha TC5
(I could not try, as yet, to update anaconda from TC6 yet cf. crash,
and I didn't try the Gnome-based Live, either)

How reproducible:

  Always

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Boot, launch Anaconda from Desktop, select language and accept fate

Actual results:

Hard to read current setting under each category

Expected results:

  All easy to read

Additional info:

  LCD panel 1440x900 here
Apart from this, new screen & concept look pretty nice to me!

Comment 1 Xavier Hourcade 2012-09-09 14:00:19 UTC
Btw, it is quite as hard to read, no matter if the entry is being "selected" (cf. blue background) or not

Should I reopen ?

Bug 855477 was describing two distinct issues: missing icons + text legibility.
Icon issue might have been solved (never saw it myself), ticket is closed.
But legibility issue was *not* solved -- still in F18 Live alpha RC2 KDE.

This is definitely a KDE-specific theme issue. I tested Gnome alpha RC2 too, in there it looks much better : contract isn't very high, but it *is* perfectly legible to my eyes. In KDE, contrast is really a lot poorer, making it unreadable.

I can't tell without a screenshot.

So you were unable to reproduce it ?

Comment 8 Chris Lumens 2012-09-19 15:13:26 UTC
No, but I'm downloading another KDE live image today and I'm going to take a look.

Comment 9 Ray Strode [halfline] 2012-09-19 16:00:00 UTC
is adwaita on the kde live cd?

easy fix might be something like:

Gtk.Settings.get_default().set_property("gtk-theme-name", "Adwaita")

Somewhere near the start of the program. The "better" fix would be to make it look good across multiple themes, of course.

Comment 10 Rex Dieter 2012-10-09 20:57:48 UTC
No, adwaita is not on kde live, only oxygen-gtk3 (and Raleih fallback).

Comment 11 Rex Dieter 2012-10-09 23:25:45 UTC
I can confirm that f18-beta-tc2 looks a lot better. imo, this can be considered fixed.

However, there seems to be some regression in gtk3 that makes anaconda widgets not display *at all* after accepting the disclaimer, i had to downgrade
gtk3-3.6.0-1.fc18  ->  gtk3-3.5.10-1.fc18
to test this (will file bug about that separately).

Comment 12 Chris Lumens 2012-10-10 13:11:07 UTC
Is that bug 864058?

Comment 13 Rex Dieter 2012-10-10 13:30:33 UTC
yep, thanks!

Comment 14 Xavier Hourcade 2012-10-22 18:06:58 UTC
Yes, this appears to be fixed IMO too -- well, my eyes were able to read this :)
Tested Fedora-18-Beta-TC6-x86_64-Live-KDE.iso
Thanks!
