Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.
Installs on UEFI machines will finish successfully but fail to boot. To get around the issue, configure the machine to boot using legacy mode for the device.
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #747102 +++
It appears that RHEV-H installation fails when booted in EFI mode.
Bug 747102 has setup the partitions for allowing boot in EFI mode. This bug is to do the actual setup needed to setup the ESP

Screenshot of grub menu booted with grub.efi
grub.conf also needs to be in the same folder with grub.efi
When grub.efi is selected manually in UEFI setup menu, it shows grub menu but fails to find partition - need to investigate why.

See bug 748725 comment 5 - if default is to try EFI and then legacy, fixing EFI boot shouldn't be a blocker. We only need to push the disk layout change since that affects future upgrades.

The note update was included in time that it's in the release notes book, I'm going to clone this so that we can action it in the actual books as a z-stream item (at the very least the Installation and Evaluation guides).
according to c#19 in bug 748725, move this bug to status "verified".
"This time can boot successful with parameter "--efi". It is useful.
Install RHEV-H can successful."
For QE: Please test all scenarios except the one below. A problem was found in the scenario below with brew builds only.
Burn iso to cd and boot in UEFI mode causes immediate kernel panic.
Verify this bug with rhevh-6.3-20120523.1 on Dell R510. Boot from usb boot media under UEFI mode and install to local disk, then boot from the local disk under UEFI mode, it successes.
