Description Matthieu Araman 2009-04-13 20:41:34 UTC
Description of problem:
I would like to install my pc as follow :
Rawhide (ie Fedora 11)
2 hard-drive 1To
I wan't to mirror the whole thing and use lvm over it to be able to extend easily my partitions.
I wish to use ext4 when possible
I understand that at this time :
- /boot can't be on lvm
- /boot can't be ext4

So I would like to create :

/dev/md0 containing /boot as ext4
/dev/md1 containing a LVM setup with some free space
partitions in /dev/md1 LVM:
/ (root)
/tmp
/var
/home
swap

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
I tried several rawhide x64 boot.iso
I had lot of problems with anaconda exceptions (usb card reader, exception while seting up partitions,...)
These exceptions are fixed and no longer occurs
Other bugs were fixed too.
the installation process run though the end before reboot ok
reboot isn't ok

status :
20090326 : LVM + RAID install -> KO (doesn't boot) install without LVM or RAID OK (smolts profile : http://www.smolts.org/client/show/pub_67a2daa2-2669-4100-967e-a1dfaa3894db)

20090404 : installation goes to the end. boot doesn't work (see below)
20090412 : can't test. boot.iso doesn't work at all ( bug 495261)

How reproducible:
Always

with boot.iso 20090404
Steps to Reproduce:
1.use boot.iso
2.install with custom partitionning as above
3.goes to the end
4.reboot

Actual results:
reboot fails

Expected results:
installation succeed

Additional info:
bug 488800 : fixed for me
bug 473482 : not fixed but easy workaround
bug 492847 : fixed for me
bug 495546 : just opened, slow formatting, doesn't prevent installation by itself

bug 495575 : system freeze after workaround for bug 495552
bug 495580 : rescue mode doesn't see partitions

Are you still seeing this problem? If so, could you attach the exact error message you are seeing? Thanks.

Comment 3 Matthieu Araman 2009-04-28 21:19:46 UTC
No, I could install succesfully with boot.iso 20090424 on 20090426 with this setup.
I updated the other bugs. didn't have time for this one.
install logs are available in comment from bug 495580
I'm closing it.
