Presumably Firefox running with --sync enabled would allow to find out which invalid X call firefox is making to cause this. Is this could be owed to a bug in the driver xorg-x11-drv-ati ("radeon") and mesa-drivers/-expermimental? I'm not sure how relevant this is, but I'm an Intel 855GM user and I've experienced the same (or a similar) crash. My crash is using an nvidia driver *** Bug 544075 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** The stack trace on my duplicate of this (541768) was running with --sync and debug symbols, and I can reproduce it at will by trying to load http://fisheye.jboss.org/browse/JBossAS/trunk/connector/src/main/org/jboss/resource/adapter/jdbc/BaseWrapperManagedConnectionFactory.java on my F11/nouveau machine, it loads fine on my other F12/intel machine. Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'firefox' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. (Details: serial 422851 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) aborting... Crash message appeared. Package: thunderbird-3.0.3-1.fc12 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 12 (Constantine) How to reproduce ----- Not sure, I sent an email and when it was done I clicked on the 'X' to close TB. How to reproduce ----- 1. Log into blackboard, for school. 2. Enter discussion area and add a thread 3.begin typing in title of thread Comment ----- Firefox appeared to freeze up for a second, I kept typing while the screen was frozen and then the browser crashed. I've had the same problem while on Blackboard Vista. I think the issue lies more with Java than Mozilla Firefox. I actually had Java crash while using Blackboard Vista this morning but abrt wouldn't report the bug because that it said the trace report was invalid (from what I could gather, it appeared to be a lack of memory). I agree with you Christopher. I noticed that Firefox was acting wiggy after the a recent update & suspected it might have something to do with Java. The update had reset my web browser JRE to java-1.6.0-openjdk. I used the BASH to delete the symbolic link /usr/lib64/mozilla/libjre(something or other).so This restored my Firefox java to the freedom hating version 6u18. After this I had no problems with this particular Firefox crash. *** Bug 572563 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 572299 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 572909 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** How to reproduce ----- 1. Comment ----- flash? Package: firefox-3.6.3-4.fc13 Architecture: i686 OS Release: Fedora release 13 (Goddard) How to reproduce ----- 1. Use firefox whilst running Gnome-Shell Comment ----- Firefox sometimes reports that something (I don't know what) is using more resources than what's acceptable. It says (out of the quota) for something which I don't know. And then, there's this crash (even if Firefox doesn't crash). Looks like it might be fixed, or at least abrt stopped nagging. @Julian Sikorski: Nope, it's still crashing here. ABRT nagged me today. I'm on Fedora 13 with all updates applied. This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '12'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
