Hi T., Many thanks for reporting this issue and giving hints about how to trigger this. It looks like compiz exposed a driver bug, and hence we would need additional information from you for our maintainers (and for me in order to know which team should handle this and redirect this to them). Please could you -attach- as -individual- -uncompressed- file attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link above: 1) the result of the dmesg command 2) your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf, if available) 3) X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log) Optionally: 4) https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=557067 reported the same issue, I am looking forward for more information from there as well. They reported that they crashed compiz by just simply log out and in, I would be interested to know if with we only one monitor connected you would be able to trigger the same crash (same backtrace) by stressing a bit the system logging out and in with desktop effects enabled. We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information. Many thanks in advance. Regards. -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers PS: I will close this or BZ 557067 as duplicate, once I got all relevant info. --------------------------------------------------------- #0 0x00000000 in ?? Hello, Unfortunately I can not provide the kernel dump. However I do know that it had something to do with dual head. My docking station supports dual head, and by default it has the external monitor on the right of the laptop screen. When logged in with compiz enabled, it crashed. I do not have an xorg.conf file so the server takes default values on start....
Something is odd (messed up) with your setup, it seems you are trying to use compiz using swrast instead of with a hardware driver, this is not expected to work (even if it works it would be unusable slow). Which video hardware and driver are you using?
Reporter, could you please reply to the previous question? If you won't reply in one month, I will have to close this bug as INSUFFICIENT_DATA. Thank you. -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers

Assigned to xorg-x11-drv-intel. Also, I am curious to know if anyone is able to reproduce this issue in Fedora 13. If you haven't tried F13 yet, why not download the latest LiveCD from http://fedoraproject.org/en/get-prerelease and give it a shot. Also, this bug sounds like bug 513736. -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers

This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '12'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
