Possibly a red herring, but I note that all gstreamer apps seem unable to seek mp3s. I've observed this on rhythmbox, totem, and Miro. I've also seen similar segfaults with mp3 playback in these other apps.

Workaround: remove gstreamer-ffmpeg and use gstreamer-plugins-ugly instead.
Installing gstreamer-plugins-ugly without removing gstreamer-ffmpeg worked for me.
Yep, looks like streamer prefers the ugly plugin over the ffmpeg one. Keeping both works for me to. Oddly, this doesn't fix the inability to seek during mp3 playback in rhymthbox, though it does fix the same issue in totem and Miro. I'm not sure what's up with that.
I'm able to seek in mp3s with rhythmbox and totem as well.

Package: rhythmbox-0.13.1-2.fc14 Architecture: i686 OS Release: Fedora release 14 (Laughlin) How to reproduce ----- Clicked on Refresh Podcasts Crash
As mentioned in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=657971#c17 this is most probably a bug in ffmpeg which is provided by rpmfusion. and which is solved by installing gstreamer-plugins-ugly
