I have suspend OS.
After "wake up" there was something like partial "wake up" what means that hardware was working (all fans, LED's, HDD), but not OS.
Screen was black. After switching to terminal [Ctrl]+[Alt]+F2 there was cursor blinking on the screen but thats all.
After a fwe minutes of waiting I have pressed Power button for more than 5 sec to turn off PC (pressing Power button short did not caused shutdown).

connected a thumb drive to my computer, and unmounted it. Deleted the current partition scheme on the drive,
and changed the label from fat32 to linux. Partitioned the thumb drive with ext2 and mounted the thumb drive.
The error came up after mounting the thumb drive.

As Stanislaw said, this should be fixed with the 3.3 kernel. All releases are on the 3.3 kernel or newer now, so closing this out. If someone hits this using a newer kernel, please let us know.
Comment 29 Mads Kiilerich 2012-04-27 15:44:12 EDT
something that at a glance apparently was pretty close to this was reported on bug 817143
Comment 30 Xavier Hourcade 2012-10-22 15:05:51 EDT
This has occurred with 3.6 while testing Fedora-18-Beta-TC6-x86_64-Live-KDE.iso, while relaunching Anaconda after it had crashed (see bug 868702).
Comment 31 Steve Tyler 2012-10-25 12:49:37 EDT
This happened with Fedora-18-Beta-TC6-i686-Live-Desktop.iso on bare metal. The crash occurred in the installer just after giving the LUKS passphrase to unlock a preexisting encrypted partition. This was after a previous installer session that I quit before completing the install.

Please reopen this bug.

Not sure if this helps, but the Live CD image was on a USB stick, and it looks like dumpe2fs was running at the time. The image seems to pass the mediacheck (there is no user feedback, though ...).

Comment 40 Layne 2012-11-30 01:56:06 EST
I hit this bug shortly after mounting and using an NTFS partition, and going in and coming out of standby. Also, (Perhaps just coincidence) my windows (NTFS) partition required me to run diskcheck immediately afterwards, because of over 100 misindexed and orphaned files.
Comment 41 Fedora End Of Life 2013-01-16 17:55:15 EST
This message is a reminder that Fedora 16 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 16. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '16'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 16's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 16 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged to click on
"Clone This Bug" and open it against that version of Fedora.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Comment 42 Fedora End Of Life 2013-02-13 20:26:08 EST
Fedora 16 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2013-02-12. Fedora 16 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
Comment 43 D. Hugh Redelmeier 2013-05-19 19:01:13 EDT
ABRT reports that I've got this crash in Fedora 18! I'm using an installation USB from the 64-bit live .ISO.

I'm not alone: see https://retrace.fedoraproject.org/faf/reports/14923/
There are 198 instances with Fedora 18.

What should I do? This is the bug report that ABRT sends me to, so starting a new bz seems like a bad idea.

Note You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
