Does it crash again? Which bundled extensions do you have? (run unopkg list --bundled to get them)

Yes, it crashes every time I attempt to start any ooo app, while the splash screen says "Synchronizing repository for bundled extensions". $ unopkg list --bundled /usr/lib64/openoffice.org3/program/unopkg: line 102: 31901 Segmentation fault (core dumped) "$sd_prog/unopkg.bin" "$@" "-env:INIFILENAME=vnd.sun.star.pathname:$sd_prog/redirectrc" $ echo $? 0 (that's bad in itself - a segfault/coredump should never give 0 exit status)

Could you run tar -cjf /tmp/bundled.tar.bz2 ~/.openoffice.org/3/user/extensions/bundled and attach /tmp/bundled.tar.bz2 here? When you have done that, remove ~/.openoffice.org/3/user/extensions/bundled and oo.o should start.

I can confirm that moving ~/.openoffice.org/3/user/extensions/bundled out of the way lets me start oo.o again. Thanks.

It seems that the new concept of on-start activation of extensions has some shortcomings... In particular, this crash is caused by presence of activation data for x86 version of presenter-screen on x86_64 system. dtardon->eblake: Do you use shared home on machines of different architectures? Or did you copy it (or the openoffice.org configuration) from another machine that was running i686 version of Fedora 14?
(In reply to comment #12) > dtardon->eblake: Do you use shared home on machines of different architectures? > Or did you copy it (or the openoffice.org configuration) from another machine > that was running i686 version of Fedora 14? I've set my machine up as a triple-boot between x86_64 F14, x86_64 RHEL 6 beta, and i686 rawhide, and yes, my /home is on a partition shared between all three. And yes, the cross-arch shared home does flush out some interesting issues (which is partly why I do it).

Just added a comment to Bug 654410, which is now marked as a duplicate, but maybe this comment is still helpful; so I post it here too: I could resolve the issue by deleting my F13 .openoffice.org directory from my home dir. Apparently the directory created by OpenOffice in Fedora 13 is not compatible. Instead of overwriting or a dialog, OpenOffice crashes (core dumped). So the good news is, you can work around this problem by removing your .openoffice.org from your homedir.

I had abrt post bug 655406, which is a duplicate of this bug. Now that I see what happened, I can give some more information about how I ran into this, in case anyone might find it helpful. I upgraded from F12 to F14, using rsync to backup my home directory before I did the reinstall (just a fresh install; I didn't use preupgrade). When I restored my home directory, the .openoffice.org directory was restored with it, causing the problem. After I saw these comments, I removed my .openoffice.org directory and everything worked fine.

Package: openoffice.org-brand-1:3.3.0-18.2.fc14 Architecture: x86_64 OS Release: Fedora release 14 (Laughlin) How to reproduce ----- 1. start openoffice. Crash occurs every time 2. 3. Comment ----- not sure what is wrong with my setup to result in this crash making the whole openoffice environment unusable
Well, do not know if this is similar to another issue I had. I solved this by removing my .openoffice.org directory in my $HOME folder and restarting OpenOffice forcing a recreation of this directory.
Thanks a lot for this piece of advice. Issue solved! FYI: I cross-graded recently from F14 i686 to F14 x64. My home directory was untouched in this process and Open Office worked for some time ... As mentioned above, it seems I am having some kind of cross-arch issue.

It's possible that there's something left over in /home that Writer is reading on startup (recovery files?) that causes the 64-bit version to barf.

caolanm->dtardon: where are we with this one, do we have a fix, or is it really messed up ?
dtardon->caolanm: I think we are near the goal. The code is now able to cope with different platform when unregistering an extension on start, but I'm getting a crash somewhere after that. I suspect I've missed some little bit that causes an exception later...
That crash I spoke about in comment 35 is completely unrelated (and hopefully only present on libreoffice master), so I've commited the fix. It will be in >=openoffice.org-3.3.0-20.3.fc14 .
