You don't need to define pear_xmldir which is provided by pear and is define to /usr/share/pear/.pkgxml (else the /var/lib/pear dir will not be owned) You don't need to define peardir, as you don't use it Missing Requires(post): %{__pear} Requires(postun): %{__pear} From Guidelines, min pear version is 1:1.4.9-1.2 (which provides the needed macro and install/uninstall registration to work) Please also fill the "Blocks" to create a good dependency tree for all the php-horde-* packages
